This project is bad for the surrounding neighborhood A huge warehouse does not belong alongside a residential community. - The proposed 4 story building would be 18 feet taller than our zoning allows. - The 125,000 square foot building is 72,000 square feet larger than our zoning allows. - There will be only 7 feet between the storage warehouse and the neighboring homes. The project hurts efforts by Allston/Brighton residents to plan the future of our community This project contradicts the years of community involvement that created the North Allston Strategic Framework, which established goals of lower density development, a more cohesive neighborhood, and expanded opportunities for neighborhood jobs. Different types of development could do much more to help us meet those goals. | |
|
The project is bad for Allston’s history and built environment The project will demolish a piece of history – a 110 year old building from the Sewell & Day factory complex. Its replacement will be a bland, boring, windowless “big box”. |
This project is bad for the Boston and Allston/Brighton economies
- The 1.2 acre site could be home to hundreds of jobs. This project will create 5 permanent
jobs.
- A diversity of business is good for the economy. Instead, this area is becoming a magnet
for self-storage businesses such as:
| Road Warrior Moving & Storage 86 Lincoln St | U-Store-It 130 Lincoln St | Yellow Brick Self-Storage 138 Harvard Ave |
| Brighton Self-Storage 1360 Commonwealth Avenue | Storage City 155 N Beacon St | Storage USA 235 North Beacon St |
| Attend the community meeting | Submit written comments to the BRA | Ask City Hall to improve our community’s future by opposing this wasteful project | |
